Call for Coaches

Red Deer United is accepting applications from parents who are willing to share their time with our youth for the 2009/2010 Season. Please complete a coach's application by clicking here.

Our club supports coach development. If a team is not available for you this season, all applicants are welcome to attend our coach training sessions. It is our hope you will apply again for another season.


What the Club expects from Coaches:

  • Support the development of each player on the team.
  • Provide team discipline and demand the best from yourself and your players.
  • Provide an environment that is condusive to teamwork, character development, and fun.
  • Support the Club's development philosophy as it relates to the Canada Sports 4 Life research.
  • Strive to follow the principles set forth in the Canada Soccer Association's Wellness to World Cup.

What the Coach can expect from the Club:

  • Educate coaches as to the standard of play and expectations for each age.
  • Provide coaches with a framework with which to organize curriculum decisions.
  • Provide for consistency, with guidance through all levels of play.
  • Improve "vertical integration" for player development.
  • Provide training and a path for career development.


Red Deer United Coaches Program:

Each coach is provided with the following:

1. A Coach's Manual. This manual includes:

  • Sample drills
  • Sample practice plans
  • Canada Sports 4 Life program
  • Wellness to World Cup program
  • Club code of conduct
  • Alberta Soccer Association Harrassment Policy

2. The Red Deer United Soccer Club Manual. This manual includes:

  • Club objectives and style of play guidelines
  • Age specific player development goals Standard of play and expectations for each age.
  • A framework with which to organize curriculum decisions.
  • Provide for consistency, with guidance through all levels of play.
  • Progression guidelines for player development.


3. Technical Committee Support for Coaches:

  • Technical committee members to observe your team and offer recommendations for drills, tactics, and set plays.
  • Customized team development plans.
  • Individualized coach guidance - answers to your questions.


4. Club Coach Seminars and guest speakers.

5. NCCP Training & Certification.

6. Funding to attend Alberta Soccer Association Seminars and training.

7. Social events for coaches only.
