The focus of our club is to offer a development program that is affordable and keeps players in the sport of soccer. Our development program concentrates on skill progression and training continuity to promote a consistent style of play across tiers and age groups. Quality technical training and flexibility in finding the appropriate level of competition are the keys to our program.

Omar and Tony were chosen to deliver our technical training because they provide experience and continuity. They have been training soccer players of all ages in Red Deer for the last 10+ years. They know the skills that each tier and age group must master to prepare for the next tier or age group.

To improve, players must try what they have learned in technical training during a game situation. To improve, players need time on the ball and experience in making decisions during competition. It is important to find a level of competition that is appropriate for a team's current stage of development. Red Deer United provides teams the flexibility to decide what is appropiate for their families by offering options. Play in an out-of-town league with home games or play as a tournament team with exhibition games. Involvement from the coach and team families is encouraged when making this decision, with recommendations from the Club's Technical Committee.

Edmonton Minor Soccer Association (EMSA) organizes leagues for Premier and Tier III levels. Teams entered in the Premier league go through a seeding round to determine a team's capability to play at Tier I or Tier II. After the preliminary round, teams are placed in the appropriate Tier. EMSA's approach allows players to experience both success and challenge throughout the season. If a team is unable to make the time and travel commitments required by an out-of-town league, they may wish to play as a tournament team. As long as players receive consistent technical training, either form of competitive experience will achieve player development.

For players in House League looking for more, you now have a place to play. Red Deer United offers the opportunity to progress within our club. The objective of our program is to supply the training and playing experience designed as stepping-stones that take you from Tier III to Tier II and then Tier I.
