2011 Camrose Rock Around the Clock - Gold Win!

The supreme effort given by the entire U-16 Boys team and their coaches paid off with a GOLD MEDAL at Camrose's 'Rock Around the Clock' tournament, Feb. 4-6, 2011. Undefeated in every game, these boys played with little sleep, painful injuries, and a whole lot of heart! Their coach, Tony Sheehan, has really fine tuned the skill and strategy of every player, with the help of Lyle Kehoe, Greg Nicholls, Omar Martinez, and Myles Kehoe, to create a successful and thinking group of soccer players. Special mention goes out to Aden Nicholls, Liam Stein, and Shaye Callen who pushed themselves through some very painful injuries to ensure their team's success. Congratulations goes to every player on the team, who all gave outstanding effort at all times, including stellar goal tending by Matt Russel.

Special awards were given throughout the tournament for individual achievements, such as; Most Valuable Player Award (as chosen by the opposing team) awarded to Aden Nicholls (game 1), Anthony Duque (game 2), and Matt Russel (game 3), who all showed amazing skill on the pitch. The Golden Boot Award (most goals scored throughout the tournament) awarded to Liam Stein, who scored 9 fantastic goals overall. As well as Overall Tournament Most Valuable Player, awarded to Juan Ortuno, who was always on the ball, creating scoring opportunities. Well done, boys! It was a pleasure to watch you play and to enjoy in your well deserved success!
